Sweet Sweet FALL

Oh My here in So CAL - it is finally feeling like FALL. My most favorite time of the year next to WINTER....the cold brisk mornings, the darker nights, and the warm heater or fire keeping me warm - oh and the warm "RED CUPS" of coffee to keep me warm...life couldn't be better.

I was getting my "Thanksgiving" decorations out and was totally disappointed when I notice that some little varmints got into my boxes and destroyed all of my stuff - 14 years of stuff collected in the trash...I do have some stuff that I recently made but not enough to decorate my house...

Here are some of this years pumpkins - that I made using some fun fabrics...
I sold most of these at my show

but here are a few more I made...

this was last years round of pumpkins

Here are this years and an up close shot of my NEW pumpkins.
I like these a bit better because they are so plump and juicy!

I like the green burlap leaves and the cinnamon stick stems...different yet the same...

Kind of like life right
so looking for the silver lining in losing my 14 year collection of FALL decorations...I guess now I get to BUY new stuff...{wink & a BIG goofy grin}

Pumpkin make-over

Awhile back I made some fun pumpkins for a Halloween Craft Boutique I was participating in. I made them using various fabrics including chenille, velvet and some linen. I topped them with moss and added a fun tag. They were a huge hit so I decided to make some for the Thanksgiving holiday. So here is my transformation of Halloween pumpkins into
Fall decorative pumpkins.

I had this wreath I purchased from a thrift store for 99 cents that was covered in mini acorns and leaves and knew it had to come home with me...
these acorns are easily cut with some wire cutters

I made some more fabric pumpkins and added larger drift wood type stems used some
moss then took the leaves from the wreath and some of the acorns and adorned the pumpkins
with them and wah-la new lovely AUTUMN DECOR.

I think they add just the right amount of fall accents and I didn't add the tag this time
since I want them to be able to move around the house this time.

here are my sweet lovelies in all their splendor.

Aren't they sweet?

best part is that I still have more acorns and leaves left to use for another project
(maybe for next year)

I hope you are done decorating and can sit back and enjoy your Thanksgiving feast next week.

Burlap Pumpkin

I rate this *****easy peasy****

Following along my last post of burlap LOVE-I had some scraps left over from making my last pillows so I decided to make one of these cute little pumpkins. I saw this on pinterest and thought - hey cute & easy.
Now I must say my hubby saw it and said - why? why would you need that?
Oh ye of little faith!

so here is what you need to get started...
burlap pins & 1 Styrofoam ball-
cut out circles all the same shape or different sizes
cut the bottom corner off - so you are giving yourself a flat base

fold the circles in half, then in half again and grab the
corner and put the pin in through there

keep adding circles and try to follow the same direction

here is the bottom of the ball that was pre-cut (just with a serrated knife)
I added a small lily pad shaped piece of burlap in brown to the bottom just
so it is finished off.

and there you go a cute burlap pumpkin to add to your Autumn & fall decor.
sweet and if you have time you could use a larger sized Styrofoam ball and make an even bigger pumpkin...

Hope you like it.

Pocket full Pumpkins

I love my fat, orange & white pumpkins...all sizes all colors & even the funky bumpy ones.
I wish I had space to start my own pumpkin patch - really - that is a dream of mine
to have a farm that I can grow a year around crop...oh maybe one day.

In the mean time I have been busily making my own --- with fabric, needle & thread.

I decided to use a bunch of fabric scraps & material that I already had on hand.
Like this really fun corduroy in tan...

I also tried one using some vintage chenille bedspread in white.

These are made simply by cutting out a circle, then using a needle and thread to
run a straight stitch along the top of the circle pulling it closed adding
some beans or rice to the bottom for some stability then stuff it...

I wanted my pumpkins to have an authentic look to them so I added broken sticks
and some moss to the top and of course I added my own label...cute right and clever wouldn't you say.

Anyway, I am in the midst of creating some more fun pumpkins....happy crafting and thanks for visiting

seeing orange

I have orange, brown - any fall colors - swirling in my mind. I am so OVER
this summer - I am anxiously awaiting waking up to cold mornings,
drinking hot coffee, sitting by the fire, wearing socks...basically
I long to get cozy!!! I keep telling myself by crafting with FALL in mind
I may be channelling my energy to the weather GODS and bring upon
 FALL/AUTUMN sooner
{it could work, right?}

anyway, I have pumpkins all over the house right now and had a light bulb moment!!!

why not share my ideas with you all and if I can figure this LINKY thing
maybe we can have a party and share ideas with lots of folks...

so here's what I am callin' it...

here is a photographic edit that I made to make my first set of PUMPKINS
look rustic and aged and I gotta tell you that I am lovin' this look however, in real life they
don't currently look like that but shoot---I may be able to make them a bit more
tattered & rustic --- good jumping off point...

so here is what MY first set of PUMPKINS looked like -
this is just a random self drawn pattern...I like the odd shape,
looks more rustic {ok note to self stop saying RUSTIC}

I sewed the pumpkin up with the seam on the outside, then I added a
found stick for the stem but you could use anything you wanted for the stem.
then I added some jute around the neck to cover up my thread and included
a hand cut burlap leaf---just to give it a fresh picked look :

then I just painted the PUMPKIN up....using orange first and then
white to add some shading...
here they are in TECHNICOLOR

and of course to make it extra special I added a fun tag to make it MY own...

I gotta tell you I love it...

Well I hope you like it and hope you back link me so I can come by and see your cool PUMPKIN
