Spring stand-up sign---tutorial

Hi there

I have been scrapbooking for 20+ yeas and if you recall the options for paper and stickers were pretty sad back then. When I found something I loved I bought a bunch of sheets and used it for everything. I would hand cut flowers and sometimes letters out of my special papers (this was before sizzix and cricut)

Todays project reminds me of some good Old school paper crafting

These paper flowers and brads came in a kit from Doodlebug Designs, aren't their paper kits the most amazing colors and graphics out there.

Here are the big BASIC flowers that were included in the kit.

I cut a 6 x 6 piece of chipboard and another piece for the stand up piece for the back (see old school papercrafting) and added the 1 sheet of paper that came in the flower kit

Then I stacked the piece of the flowers and added some pop dots for some additional dimension to the flowers (see below)

This was my first attempt at making a tag for the front of the spring sign

Terrible I know

Here's the finished tag on the front of the sign.
100% better-don't you agree?

Here is the finished sign - isn't it the cutest thing ever.
See my last post for the tutorial on how to make those No-Sew Spring Gnomes

Here' wishing Spring weather comes around sooner then later.

Spring Gnomes - no sew project

I love me a good gnome - I usually make them with fabric and sew up the bodies and the hat - recently I created the sweetest rainbow gnomes and all DONE the NO SEW way!

Here’s the how to

Supplies needed and don’t forget the glue gun or tacky glue if you’re doing it with kids.

Wrap the paper machine cone with your fabric and glue the edges down.

Do the same with the hat made of felt that should be cut in a cone shape

Wait for it to dry - then flip it inside out

Add a small patch of fur - before gluing add the hat and see where you should glue it down - then do so and then after that glue down the hat

Once that dries you can add your wooden nose or a felt Pom Pom if that’s what you have on hand

And if you feel like it you can make a whole rainbow go cute gnomes - like I did.

Or how about you do them all green for St. Patrick’s Day

Oh the possibilities are endless

Fuzzy goodness-craft project

Cute is always a great idea and sometimes Cute can be a fun accessory.

Today I wanted to share this fun planner clip idea that I had originally planned to share around Valentines Day.

By the way - all the items I used for this project are from the 99 cent store.

I used my handy glue gun to add the eyes to the Pom poms

Be careful because the gun gets hot and you literally are working with a small work surface but I think it’s faster then using a white glue. Tweezers would help for sure, I’m just not coordinated.

So cute

Then to add a little something extra (if you were using them for Valentines a Day) you could add some fun words with your type writer - which is reminiscent of WARM FUZZIES - tots 1970’s craft

What an inexpensive craft project and how cute are they in your planner - great accessory right?

Here’s to getting your craft on today.

2 scrapbooks 1 paper kit

Hey there it’s February and I have been busy making lots of good stuff and I wanted to share how I made to different abumsnusing one paper kit by doodle big designs...

These are the 2 albums I made using one paper kit-the colors are similar but the shapes are different and the themes
are different

This is the small GARDEN TIME 5 x 5 square chipboard album

Different stickers that go with the garden theme

Simple but super cute

Paper flowers in matching colors

Totally fun album and the second one is made with a big and animal theme - made with kids playing in the back yard in mind

Again same color scheme but I used a leaf shaped MDF scrapbook (that I bought at a thrift store)

Left room for photos

Isn’t this the cutest thing ever.

Can’t you see your kids photos with muddy hands in here

I wanted to show you that you can make more then one type of album using one paper kit and believe it or not I have left over paper so I could make some cards or embellishments - I plan on using it all up and make more!!!

Thanks for stopping by folks

These will be listed in the shop today!

Crafting on a budget

It’s Friday - I thought I’d share some low cost crafting ideas. This will serve as a crafting on a budget idea as well as some simple holiday home decor ideas.

For this Valentine’s Day project all you need is paper and a paper punch. Notice how I used a circle punch (it was closest to me) but of course you could use a heart punch or even a star punch. If you only have small punches, those will work too. Just make more punch Outs and have the garland extend longer. Easy fix.

Grab your supplies - I prefer double sided paper that way you dont have to worry about how your garland is laying and won’t see a white back unless of course that’s part of your color scheme.

Punch the circles

Again using what you have - if you only have one sided paper just glue 2 pieces together

Sew the circles together in a long chain.

Cute right?

See how cute and “sew” simple. You could do this for every holiday and save for another holiday or party. Or if you used your scraps - you can toss it when your done with it.

I love it.

Here’s to crafting on a budget.

have a beautiful weekend friends.!

Show off/ flip thru - waterfall sewing scrapbook

I wanted to share this fun new waterfall style sewing album I made using the STITCHES paper kit by Authentique Paper. The colors are soft and the embellishments are totally sewing related and fun

Here’s the cover - do you see the waterfall I’m talking about

Inside pages start small and get  progressively larger.

Aren’t the journal cards perfect

Lots of spots for photos

Or you can add finished sewing projects.

Cute right! Plus don’t forget the pockets - you still have 3 pockets which could hold some photos of your favorite patterns or buttons you love.

Wouldnt this make a great gift for your favorite seamstress!!!

Let me know what you think!

Happy New Year 2019

Welcome and Hello again.

I can not believe that we have begun  a New Year, 2019!! Not sure about you but I had great intentions and plans for the start of the New Year. But to be honest, I've gotten off to a very slow start. How about you? Part of the blame is that we came back from a Vegas vacation on January 2nd. Then the hubbs and the kids were off until January 6th - so of course I didn't want to do much, other then WATCH NETFLIX and Chill. (insert laugh emoji)

I have been in a funk of some sort...I am buying NEW craft supplies and have plans for said supplies - but my mind is full of other kooky issues - that really should not be weighing me down as much as I am letting them...I am anxiously awaiting a refresh. Like a 2nd shot at the New Year excitement and preparation...I think its coming - I feel it.

Until then, I am making some changes here on the blog and am making PLANS for some fun new projects. Its all being written down and flagged to get started on immediately.

One of the main things I want to share more on here is LIFE. Sometimes I just need to get things off my chest and perhaps what I am going through may be what someone else is going through and I can help you or you can help me and we can get through it together.

I am giving myself permission to re-start the New Year - doesn't have to be tomorrow or the next day. But its coming and I am looking forward to it. You can to. Maybe you want a do over, or are also in a funk for what ever is going on in your life right now...it's ok. We don't always have to have our shit together. We are allowed to move slower then the rest of the world.

Here's to doing things our way and knowing that we still have time to make this New Year exactly what we wanted it to start off like.

Hugs friends
