I'm back

Wow! What an amazing trip we had.we saw a lot, we walked a lot, sweated a lot (tmi) and took lots of photos...which I will share at a later time.

If you know me then you know that I took stuff to craft with on our trip. Mostly water colors and paper, a pencil and a glue stick to add stuff to my art journal I shared in my last post.

We came home early most nights, around 7:00 pm which was only 4 our time but we were getting up at 2:00 am our time here some mornings we were way tired by 7:00...

We didn't have tv while we were there so we streamed some shows and I drew.

I had a bunch of ideas running through my head and started to draw out some fun animals dressed in circus outfits...

Here are a few sketches

Cute right? I am attempting to try something new - a new idea...and I'll be sharing more soon.

Here is one finished piece...

Looking at this just makes me happy and hopefully it does the same for you!

Hope you are having a great summer!!!

Handmade travel journal

I wanted to share this fun travel journal I made for our week in New York -

I needed a place to keep all our plans and tickets and information in so I knew it had to be functional yet fun and I had to have space to draw or write about things we did that day!

Here is the whole journal

I used chipboard and covered it with paper then added stickers to the front and used my cinch to bind it and only went up partially - funky but it works.

I added or packing list and an itinerary

I added some watercolor paper so I can doodle like I did on the right side and some other bits of scrapbook paper to add notes or comments about our day

I added some small page protectors and added some small cards in them and left the others blank to add

Because I hand bound it I was able to add whatever I wanted and added this 5 x 7 envelope to hold our tickets and other important information

So you see I'm prepared to document and record my fun filled week in New York - I can't wait!

Il'll be instagramming while I am there sharing fun shots

Stay tuned when I get back I will share the finished journal with photos and writing -

Cute New albums

I'm all about a fun new album and while I like to make albums to give and sell I usually try and keep the cost down by using what I know and what I have but recently I found the cutest albums made of chipboard and well look how cute they came out...

Can you stand it?
A baby onsie...

this is another inside page

This is 6 pages including front and back covers and has 4 photo mats
And because they are for babies I decorated them so adorably. Using papers and embellishments by Carte Bella the baby mine collection (swoon)

If you would like to see more of the inside of the album please head over to my website
onecraftymess.com
and click on the shop icon and scroll down until you find it and check it out.

These are fun little albums that would make a great baby shower gift or even just a congratulations to a new mommy or grandma that lives far away.

Happy Tuesday Ya'll

Emoji Love

We have this friend of the family who is like an uncle to my kids and every year for his birthday we try and do something fun for him. This year I decided to try and come with a theme using what I had on hand. I had cardstock boy do I have paper, I have paper punches and I have markers.

I also know how much he loves chocolate cupcakes so I immediately had the BRILLIANT idea of doing the POOP EMOJI for the topper of the cupcakes...so then another lightbulb went off and I thought hey lets do an emoji themed party.

As you can see all it took was some large punched yellow cardstock circles, then I added the emoji faces with black sharpie and used my sewing machine to sew through the tops of the faces and created the cute little banner against the wall.

I did something similar for the MIKE banner that I attached to 2 wooden skewers and stuck them into the cupcakes - I guess I could have made those circles smaller but I just went with the bigger ones.

then for the piece de resistance' (said with a French accent) the POOP EMOJI CUPCAKES
Used a box mix and then my daughter used the biggest hole in the silver piping tips to add the poopy swirl...and #wilton has fun eye candies that I used to add to the poop then to finish it off I added a fun white grin with icing from a tube, store bought (had)

You could add emoji faces to all the yellow cups if you wanted (those were from the 99 cent store)
I think it came out wonderfully and he liked it too.

Simple, pretty inexpensive and he got to take all the decorations home to set it up when he see his family over the weekend.

P.S. the cupcakes were a hit with the kids!!!

Sometimes using what you have makes you find new ideas that normally wouldn't have been thought of otherwise.

Happy Crafting!!

New album

Just finished  bunch of new albums and wanted to share this one first

I used the baby mine paper kit by carte Bella

This layout makes me happy. The flowers make it so girly and cute.

It's a gloomy day here in Southern California so the lighting is not great but just imagine soft pastel colors and sweet accents that coordinate.

It's being listed later today in the shop!
