Teacher appreciation Freebie

Lately, all the blogs have been sharing some fun free printables for Teacher Appreciation week...I have to be honest that I have passed on quite a few. Some really good ones, too. But nothing was calling to me. Then just today I realized that it's Wednesday and I need to get a move on getting something together for my boys teacher...so I decided to pick one of the freebies  offered today and found one (wish I could remember which blog I got it from) I printed it this morning and tonight around 9:00 pm I decided to put it together.

Now being that I am an avid crafter I had a bunch of things in my hoard that I knew I could use - so I was going for a framed piece but I couldn't find a small enough frame - then I remembered that somewhere in my space I had a small clip board, the ones you buy at the dollar store...

Once I brought it in - I literally pulled all the other items out from my scrapbooking desk.
I used Washi tape at the bottom, taped the verse in the middle under the clip then needed to hide the awful metal clip so I grabbed some really thick ribbon and tied a bow then hot glued it to the top. To finish it off I grabbed one of my little crocheted hearts and hot glued it to the bottom corner.

And there you go; what started out as a free printable turned into a really sweet gift for a pretty cool teacher...aren't freebies Awesome! Great jumping off point for sure!

I will be sharing this at all the parties above...here's to all the wonderful freebies offered out there - may you find some that ruffle your fancy!

Baked-day 29

On my January goal list - I had put down bake bread. I had always wanted to try it. You know the kind that requires you to use yeast? I have made bread using a box mix before and a bread machine but decided this year was thee year. So I looked online and found a basic bread recipe - seemed simple. So I followed it step for step (except maybe for the times for rising etc.)

Surprisingly it worked. At least, it looked like it did.

Pretty right?

Golden deliciousness

It was easy to cut through and was soft and yummy inside.

It almost looked like a bakery style bread loaf - worth I'd say 5.00...

I added some jam & butter and wowzers, I was impressed.

yummy.

I think it will be something I will be making regularly now.

I am proud that I baked something, proud that it came out right, proud that it tasted good and that my kids loved it, proud that I crossed off the last thing on my January goals list.

I am linking this up to the parties above.

Sweet card - day 19

What a fun weekend. Glad we have one more day to play and the best part is the hubs gets the day off too. Makes it more fun and less stressful.
So I really want to expand my range in card making. I can make cards but I am not much of layering type of girl. I have a cricut, I have a sizzix and lots of dies, lots of punches and I hardly ever use them on my cards - what the heck is wrong with me.
Along with making an effort towards the people that matter in my life I plan on making a bigger effort in my cards - afterall, they are going to very important people. Here is a card I made and that there house is handmade by me out of chipboard.

The paper is from a Christmas stack and those flowers are red and turquoise - the color looks almost deep blue but its lighter. I used paint on the house and added a small paper heart.

I am linking this card up to the following challenges:

Have a fabulous week, happy crafting and if you have a day off tomorrow for MARTIN LUTHER KING day then enjoy yourself.

Pom Pom LoVe

On our way to the beach today I decided to get busy on making some Pom poms. My hubbs asked "what are those for?" & with no hesitation I replied "Haven't you heard Pom poms are all the rage." He laughed.

But, I am sure you know after looking on Pinterest that Pom poms are hip, trendy and offer pure happiness - at least I think so!!!!

Here's what I've got done so far....
