day 38 - Felt Heart

I was very into making my Valentine Mantel this year - mainly I didn't want to buy too many silly little bits at the craft store - I wanted to try and use what I had. (My goal for the year is to use what I have and spend less.) So I brought out my felt and just kept it simple.

 

 

I cut out a heart shape from the felt then took 1 of the hearts under the sewing machine and just free hand sewed the words "I LOVE YOU" I like the look of the sewing script.

 

After wards I turned the hearts inside out and closed up the heart leaving the opening up at the top. Stuft the heart with poly-fil and then whip stitch the opening closed.

 

 

Added a ribbon hanger and some pretty seam binding and a leaf & berries to the top///

 

Cute right and the best part is that I can keep it up all year long!

Valentine Card ideas & discards -day 34

All day yesterday I was busy cleaning up - my studio space, our storage shed and boy did we have a lot of trash and collected a  bunch of stuff for our upcoming yard sale. I had a bunch of stuff that I was saving for my kids - way to much stuff - like baby blankets and onsies that had so many stains on them - I can't imagine what from. I mean, really are they gonna want stained baby clothes? Probably not so I kept the good stuff and junked the stained stuff, kept the artwork they made and wrote on junked the class work and stuff that just had their name on it - you know the things they come home with daily???

 

Another thing I had a lot of were cards. I've been with my husband for 15 years and we have 4 kids - so there were a billion {just kidding but wow) cards for birthdays, anniversaries and pregnancies, mothers & fathers day - you get the jist!!! I kept them all...I Know more stuff but those are super special. So here is another one to add to the bunch -

SHHHHH---- this one is for my husband...

 

Underneath the paper rose above the is a small tag that I punched and stamped with the words

I {heart} you

 

or I could give him this one....another small tag (Martha stewart) that says YOU & ME

 

Hm...choices, choices...maybe I'll give him both [wink wink]

feeling the LOVE

I have got the LOVE bug lately. Everything I make seems to be red, pink or Valentine-y!

take for instance this card...

 

 

Just something I threw together. I was making a paper bag album & a banner with these papers and decided they needed to be used as a card too.

I am thinking that perhaps this may be the card I give to my sweet beloved hubster...
