Bonnet bunnies

I just had to share the cutest little bunnies ever - which I proudly made - out of those little mini straw hats.

 

 

Each with a lightly different look to them.

 

Actually to be brutally honest - I first forgot which way the pom poms should go } like nose on top or under cheeks.

 

And then to show you that not everything I try works out - I thought I would share this spooky bunny - to which I thought I would try green eyes - makes him look a little scary, at the very least odd!!!

 

 

What do you think? It's a Fun little gift to make and give to teachers & friends.

Dollar Store Easter Decor

I love the dollar store.

I mean who doesn't, right. Sometimes you can find some really cool holiday decorations for a DOLLAR I mean cant get better then that right? I made a cute kitchen table centerpiece using only items bought at the dollar store...here are the items:

 

 

For $4.00 I bought 2 bags of Styrofoam Easter picks, 1 bag of grass and 1 Easter glass.

 

Here are the super easy steps!!

 

Stuft the Easter grass into the cup then play with the egg picks where ever you think looks good. And there you have it! Something cute and cheap and re-useable.

 

I like it when you can do things on the cheap...

Hello Fall

Good grief - a month later and life just whooshed by...It's that time of year...where I am spending all my time finishing up my hand crafted goods for the annual VILLAGE VENTURE. It is a real treat to participate in this show, it is the biggest show I have ever been a part of. This year there is expected to be 490 crafters/vendors...YIKES. Its an all day (1 day) affair and usually it is super hot - like 95' degrees hot - I am praying for cool weather and lots of new people.

I can always expect my usual clients - who I might add are the greatest peeps out there. They make me feel special when they hit my spot every year. What a compliment to know they came to me first. LOVE LOVE you guys.

I thought I would share some of the fun stuff I have been working on.

I am super excited that I will have a bunch of my usual items pillows, jewelry & such but with a NEW twist on them all.

I have been having lots of fun playing with paper clay and have created many cool characters this holiday season.

Advent Calendar

Here's another NOT SO original idea but I did notice that everyone has been sharing their take on the traditional advent calendar. So I thought I would share the one I put together this year for my kids.

Ok so let me start by saying that the base for this advent calendar is a large frame I picked up years ago from a thrift store - that has been painted a ton of times...I use it as props for photo booths at parties..

Last time the frame was used was for my sister-in-laws wedding in their photo booth. So here it is in black.

 

So you'll need some hemp cord, some stamps, staples, paper bags and clothes pins & some treats...

 

1st thing is to staple some cord to the back of the frame - the tighter the better

 

I kind of spaced the cord out to what looked right to me but I guess you could use a ruler and be more precise.

 

Here is the back of the frame with all three cords stapled on. Spacing looks pretty good right???

 

Here's a front view of the frame  (sort of)

 

Now the fun begins: I used tags but you could use scraps of paper I suppose - Just make it look cute-

 

I have some large letter & number stamps and used them to add the numbers 1- 25 on the tags.

 

I then grabbed some small paper bags and added the treats ( since the bags are bigger you can add things other than candy - try the dollar store)

Then I used some some clothes pins and clipped the bags with the number tags on the cords and look how incredible my 2012 ADVENT CALENDAR looks.

I added the wreath for some decoration - cool? 

 

Here is an up close shot of the bags - I stamped a bit more on the tags - just to kick them up a notch.

My kids were super excited to see it and now clammer to open the bags in the morning. I put in 4 items for my 4 kids and they are thrilled with it and it I am happy with the way it looks displayed on our wall.

 

I love to get on pinterest and see all the fun Advent calendars out there.

sweet Snowman

Here is another sweet Holiday D-I-Y couch buddy or gift.

I made these at my last show and they sold like crazy and really quite simple to make.

I thought I would share with you how to put one or bunches of these together.

Here are the supplies you will need not forgetting the glue gun and the sewing machine

You'll need to some white chenille or any other white thick fabric, a little bit of orange felt, lots of black felt  and some vintage trim for the hat.

 

 

 

I sewed an orange triangle together  on the machine and sewed an oblong circle out of the vintage chenille and left an opening for the stuffing

 

 

I used black circles cut from the black felt for the eyes and the mouth.

I made a hat using the black felt too and just cut out a square  wide enough to cover the top of the snowman's head and a rectangle to act as part of the hat...and just glued it in place

 

the finishing touch is the vintage holly & berrys that I added to the hat to give it that vintage feel.
