3 step felt sunglass case

Its the middle of May and while June 21 is the beginning of Summer - here in our neck of the world OUR SUMMER officially begins Wednesday the 22nd of May. The last day of school for my 2 youngest children is the 22nd at 11:45 to be exact so lots of time in the summer sun is ahead of us.

This past weekend we went to Palm Springs and my sun glasses just lay freely in my bag - banging about - so with plans for summer outings in the works I figured I better get a case for my glasses - quick or I am sure I'll be shelling out lots for new glasses with the scratches and dings left on my shades...enter my "CRAFTINESS" lightbulb moment:
Quick 3 step sunglass case

Supplies needed: Felt, ribbon and embellishments

(1)Cut a square piece of felt (when closed will cover your sunglasses) - once you have your square cut grab some ribbon and lay it out -
(2)once you figure out the look you want straight stitch it on to the felt.

(3)Next turn the felt right sides facing each other and sew up the 2 sides - then turn inside out

The three steps are done but once you have a turned the case right side out you COULD add your embellishments - I added what I thought were hand sewn & cut feathers but my daughter said they look like leaves - oh well.
At least it looks good on.

I am super thrilled with my new sunglass case and so are my sunglasses - no more roughin' it and banging away in my purse...

I hope you have a chance to make one to suit your fancy.

Dinner tray REPURPOSED

I have a kindergartner that comes home at 11:45 a.m. famished and ready to eat but loves to eat in front of the t.v. - he deserves it after along 1/2 day of school :)

I found these old white dinner trays = the metal kind that are sort of hinky---in that they are a bit lop sided and have some rusting and dents...good bones and good enough for my little guy...

I pulled out my trusty spray paint and gave it a spray of primer in white then used a fun vibrant color of red (also helps to promote a good appetite) to the tray and did some free hand painting over all of it  - all free hand. The message around the tray reads:

"EAT ALL YOUR FOOD AND PICK UP YOUR DISHES - LOVE YOU" simple and to the point...but no worries after every meal I still have to remind him to pick up his dishes. After all, he is only 5!!!

Like I said one too many times - spray paint is a wonderful thing. It's cheap and can make over and do-up just about anything....

I hope you have a crafty week and come back by again soon.

Nothing better then QUICK & EASY...I am all about pick and stick projects - take for example these cards. Just 2 scraps of paper, a phrase punch out, a flower & 1 button.

Like I said pick & stick...pick out the things you want to use and stick (glue) them to the card front

Here is another pick and stick card...1 piece background paper, 1 phrase out and 4 punched photo corners...Super quick!!!

Now on to the next craft :)

Spray Paint LOVE

It's no surprise that I LOVE spray paint - I have at least 10 cans of spray paint at any one time. I use it to spoof up anything, like painting my dining room chairs, painting frames. Truly anything that needs a clean up or re-style - I grab it and my spray paint and outside I go.

Take for instance these sweet little owls..

I bought these from Marshall's - the smaller one was black and I painted it GOLD over Thanksgiving and the taller one I got about a month ago each was 2.00 on clearance...SCORE

Turquoise and white spray paint make for an instant home décor pick -me up....Can you see why I love that paint so much. It's super cheap and can make-over just about anything and any surface. Remember that next time you find a knick knack somewhere that you think would never fit in to your home décor - now with some spray paint - you can make anything fit your life & style....
