Felty goodness

Still feeling that FALL itch out here - and while today is a cool day breezy anyway - it definitely hasn't changed the seasons - which is a total bummer. But once again, to keep me in the spirit of Autumnal bliss I have been playing with felt to try and beautify my home for the holidays...
I took some lovely felt that I bought in Missoula, Montana...at a sweet fabric store

and cut out some random shapes of what I think look like leaves or feathers

then went to my machine and sewed them up stringing them along

then added them to my muslin wreaths that I decorate for the different holidays with my craftiness.

I think it looks good but needs something more...
my head is already turning

and of course had to add a saying to my welcome chalkboard.

I doesn't take much to get crafty and make some awesome coolness. Scraps of felt, some needle and thread, a touch of color can make the difference

NEW Burlap Banners

I am so ready for the FALL. I love everything about the AUTUMN season. The cool weather, the darker nights, the fireplace ablaze and the jackets and blankets that get used more. I long for the start of FALL. However, if you live here in SoCal, you know that we get hot - hot and I mean 90' hot days up until October 31st. Sure we get some cool days but for the most part its still summer throughout September and October. That what Southern California is known for, right??? ughhhh

Anyway, I am slowly getting out my fall decorations and figured I better make some new banners. I wasn't feeling last years so I went thru my stash of fabrics and found some left over pieces of burlap and well since burlap is AWESOME - I thought I would come up with an easy banner to share with you.

I cut 5 rectangles out of the burlap and then cut a triangle out of each.

then I grabbed some large foam stamps ( I find that foam stamps are the easiest to use)
used some ink or paint will do...and stamped out my saying

Here is another fun one made using the same technique - and again all you need is scraps of burlap.

Cute right - and you could make them up for friends and family and best part is that they are QUICK>>>

Painted Pillows

Oh wow - here in SoCal it has been super hot & very sweaty...HUMID - like AFRICA humid. Almost unbearable - I am afraid to open our SCE bill I am sure that it will be SKY HIGH since our air conditioner has been running on HIGH for the last 2 weeks. With that said we just started a new month HELLO SEPTEMBER - I am anxious for the FALL & WINTER months - I have been feverishly working on my holiday items for my upcoming shows. I have been thinking HALLOWEEN for a couple of months now

I wanted to share my newest line of pillows....I make pillows every year and like to change things up so I can give my customers something new to look at.

So Here is what I came up with:

I used some speckled fabric - similar to MUSLIN but a bit thicker.

I picked a font I liked and printed out the letter then cut them out with a bit of a border

(this is a different project I will share later this week)

traced them on the fabric in black sharpie or black marker then took my time and painted them in.
Its quite easy and quick. Promise!
then just sewed them up. I wanted long and skinny pillows - maybe to be used as accents on a couch!

Last year I made my pillows out of burlap and stamped Halloween phrases on them - that took some time and was hard to get a good print out of. I like these pillows ALOT!! I made another one that says TRICK OR TREAT - same size and same technique. Planning on making a few more...

I will blog about the pumpkins soon...

Here's wishing you a cool afternoon.
I will be linking these pillows up to the following parties - please see the tab at the top of the page.
