Fuzzy goodness-craft project

Cute is always a great idea and sometimes Cute can be a fun accessory.

Today I wanted to share this fun planner clip idea that I had originally planned to share around Valentines Day.

By the way - all the items I used for this project are from the 99 cent store.

I used my handy glue gun to add the eyes to the Pom poms

Be careful because the gun gets hot and you literally are working with a small work surface but I think it’s faster then using a white glue. Tweezers would help for sure, I’m just not coordinated.

So cute

Then to add a little something extra (if you were using them for Valentines a Day) you could add some fun words with your type writer - which is reminiscent of WARM FUZZIES - tots 1970’s craft

What an inexpensive craft project and how cute are they in your planner - great accessory right?

Here’s to getting your craft on today.

Crafty girl ideas - Christmas edition

Boy - have I been MIA on this here old blog of mine - no good reasons other then life and the holidays.

Today I wanted to share the cutest set of ornaments ever to come to life.

I used one clear plastic ornament that has to be snapped together - which are ideal for placing Items inside the ornament and easy to customize.

I started off with tracing the ornament onto a piece of card board - that’s what they are both Based on...

Covered the base with scrapbook paper
Then for this ornament I added some wood veneer trees and a sticker

Inked the edges of course placed snow in the center of the ornament then hot glued the clear dome over that.

Added a doily to the back of the ornament and a another circle of scrapbook paper just to make it more festive.

This second one started with a set of stamps and dies by Prima marketing - this is literally a piece together ornament - it took a little longer then I had planned or wanted to spend but it came out super cute.

Started with the same card board base and scrapbook paper
Then stamped and die cut some of the pieces

Rolling snow covered hills - stamped and die cut

Stamped and die cut the houses which are so small but so cute & actually they are the perfect size for this project.

Finishing touches are some sparkly snow and some other stamped and die cut pieces and of course the Pom Pom fringe to hide the pop sides placement of the dome!  Cute tho’ wouldn’t you agree?

Tag me if you try this or share some of the ones you’ve made

Graduation Gift Idea

Today is a big day for us here - my daughter graduates from high school and we are in full party prep mode but I wanted to share a cute gift idea with you.

This idea is a unique way to give money to a graduate.

Cute right?

Let’s get started

Here are the supplies you’ll need to make this

First would be picking your jar. This is for my daughter, so I am packaging 100.00 - mostly ones, some 5.00s, a couple of 10.00s and 1 twenty... I used the jar on the left with the white cap. I had it  already but I know bought it at the dollar store.

See that there mason jar?

Pretty sure it can hold 250.00 to 300.00 - I bought that one originally but my 100 bucks only filled 1/4 of the jar - doh!

Use those small rubber bands (also purchased at the dollar store) and wrap the dollar bills.

Here is my jar filled up and to be honest I could probably fit in another 20 bucks inside. Shh don't tell her that.

Now you’ll need to measure the circumference of the lid

Cut a piece of black card stock and wrap it around the lid...

The circumference of my lid is 12 1/2 inches around my CS is only 12 inches - but it’s no big deal - remember the kid will probably rip this apart to get to the money so that small detail won’t even be seen.

I cut a 6 inch square for the top of my jar - (1/2 the circumference I measured)

I used 3 pieces of double sided foam tape to raise the height then stuck my square on top. I bought the small tassels at Michaels for some scrapbooking projects so I used it but you could make your own instead with the school colors if you wanted to be really crafty...and attached it to the top with a sticky dot and a black Pom Pom!

And ta-da MAGIC and an amazing treat to give your kid!

Happy Graduation to all those kids out there and the parents who survived the journey (wink wink)

Most Egg-cell ent

Wanted to share an easy and meaningful idea for you to share with loved ones this Easter. Also, it’ll be a sure momento that someone will treasure for always...at least I’m hoping.

Crafty girl idea #10

For this project I used wooden eggs that I bought in the Target dollar spot, paint, modgepodge and stickers

First paint the eggs all th colors

Once the paint dried, I noticed that the colors weren’t pastel enough - so I added white to each color and lightened the eggs up to just what I wanted.

You can see the difference here.

Once the eggs dried I added Polk-a-dots but you could add strips or leave them plain

I add dots with the end of a paint brush

And here they are all done - pretty right?

Because I want to give these to my kids in their Easter bag...I decided to personalize them for each kid and usd some stickers with phrases on them I already had.

Here’s a tip: the stickers are stiff so when I peeled them off I kind of bent them or curved them so they would be easier to adhere then I added the modge podge to the sticker back and on the egg and went over the sticker a bit then used my fingers to push it down... be patient because they will lift and appear to not want to stick down but they do.

Once the sticker is laying down flat, add the glue to the entire egg and wait for the drying and look how incredibly amazing they look.

I have another good idea to share on how I will package these babies up. Come back soon

If You try this - tag me so I can check them out please.

Oh Christmas Tree

Hi again, I took a much needed break from crafting after my last show of the season.
Birthdays in our house....

This year we told our girls (14 & 16) that they could choose money or gifts for their birthday. My youngest daughter chose money and wanted to go to Melrose in Hollywood to do some shopping. My oldest daughter decided she wanted presents. She also asked for something fancy as a centerpiece for her party table.

I had been seeing some fun ideas on line and the one that caught my eye was customizing clear christmas ornaments with paint. So my next obstacle was finding a tree - small enough and cute enough to put in the center of her table.

I found a small white tree at the 99 cent store and then started to look for clear ornaments - they had plenty of the big 4 inch ornies at the dollar tree and some smaller ones at michaels and while that probably would have looked ok - I wanted something smaller and low and behold on a recent trip to Walmart I found the cutest tiny embellished ornaments - they were embossed with silver accents.

Here are the ingredients for the cutest little ornie you ever will make

The cool thing about this idea is that you can customize these ornies to any color scheme or for any celebration

First step - is to squeeze some  acrylic paint into the ornie - then swirl the ornament around to move the paint...

then pour the extra into a small cup..let it drain upside down on a plate

and continue on with the other colors
p.s. the paint bottles were 50 cents at Walmart also

and look how pretty when they are done...I think the silver accents really make them look vintage and more fun.

while the lighting is not to good--- here is the finished ornaments on the tree

and another up close shot of the tree...I added some super soft and squishy little characters that my daughter loves to collect.

another shot in a bit better light

oh and in case you were wondering if she liked it

She LOVED it!

Share if you make some ornaments similar to these..

Here is another episode of

CRAFTY GIRL IDEAS

If you know me and this here ol blog then you know I am an avid paper crafter more specifically a scrapbooker and with that skill - there are always left over paper scraps and embellishments from used kits.

I usually make mini paper bag album kits to sell - so that you can make something at home in your own style - well I also like to make tags and add them to packages when I ship out purchases.
I made a quick video to show you what and how easy they are to make

enjoy

We are in full summer mode here at Casa Curtis - all the kids are off and we are slowly filling are summer calendar up with fun things to do.

Happy Hump Day!!!

Washi rescue-Crafty Girl Ideas

Hey ya'll, I know I am always sharing my new projects but I wanted to share  a new segment that I am calling #CraftyGirlIdeas

This is episode one:

I bought these really cute spring banners in the dollar spot at Target. You know how they change that space up with tons of new fun stuff - I swear I could go broke buying DOLLAR SPOT items - they add up quick...anyway back to my Idea

So I bought these 2 simple banners - cute but a little plain for me...being the crafty chick I am I have buckets of washi tape - that I rarely use but pulled out some and fixed my simple banners...into something stunning...

CRAFTY GIRL IDEAS-

Plain banners but with cute tassels on the bottom - so I tried to pick washi that matched
its not perfect but its super cute none the less.

I also added some washi to my cute MINI HEIDI SWAPP LIGHTBOX
isn't she cute and better.

here is an up close shot of my banner on the door - I have two doors and 2 banners but as you can see the sun was not working with me --- Crafty Girl Ideas - not to bad right

Washi can fix anything!!!! I think so, anyway.

Happy Hump Day ya'll
