Bonnet bunnies

I just had to share the cutest little bunnies ever - which I proudly made - out of those little mini straw hats.

Each with a lightly different look to them.

Actually to be brutally honest - I first forgot which way the pom poms should go } like nose on top or under cheeks.

And then to show you that not everything I try works out - I thought I would share this spooky bunny - to which I thought I would try green eyes - makes him look a little scary, at the very least odd!!!

What do you think? It's a Fun little gift to make and give to teachers & friends.

Spring has Sprung

I love Spring...it's not super hot and we still have cool mornings. The outdoors seem so alive and vivid - like the world is Refreshing itself. The roses are in full bloom and the birds are chirping - oh my how the birds are chirping...they seem to have found a nice perch right on our chimney which echoes into our living room {all day}

I am slowly refreshing my home as well. We started our kitchen renovations last Tuesday and are partially done. I am creating some cute little "bits" for my Spring mantel and getting my front porch ready to embrace the Spring weather.
Like this sweet birdhouse...just used one of the $1 bird houses from Joanne's painted it up and added that sugar candy glitter to the whole house - makes it look yummy kind of like candy dontch'a think?.

Added some posie flowers and a sweet little egg...Makes for a sweet little decoration for my mantel

The best part of this project is that other then the birdhouse I had the paints and the embellishments on hand. Makes for a cheap little decoration. You could get as elaborate as you like in decorating the bird house. Imagine the possibilities!

Hope you are feeling Spring where ever you at...Happy Crafting

Tags-Day 48

I consider myself to be quite crafty and do love crafting for the specific holidays but notice that I make "HOLIDAY" inspired goodies but do NOTHING with those things, so like I mentioned before I want to be more present and give more "HANDMADE" away and use as gifts. That is the scenario I am hoping to live by from now on.
I am beginning with these fun tags.
I have a secret love for tags. I buy the blank manila tags buy the case and if I am not coffee dying them I am stamping on them. I use them as price tags, as labels and as gift tags.
I mean really they are so versatile and something about a blank slate - that creamy manila color - yummy.
Here is the newest set of tags I made for the upcoming St. Pattys Day Holiday

Here is another set of fun tags I made and added flowery clothespins -

see the tags are awesome and the pins make a great & useful gift too...What's not to LOVE? I am linking these tags up to the parties above....

Have a great crafty week.

Luck of the Irish - day 45

Remember I mentioned that I was playing with my cricut? I wanted to share with you what I have been making.

Pretty cool right?
I just got the new pennant banner cartridge and I LOVE all the variations you can make with it.

sorry for the dirty fireplace - but we do use it!!!

I used my other cartridges to make the letters. I had bought the small shamrocks from one of my favorite stores and added some white pen marks around the edges of the shamrocks and some black pen marks around the white letters.

All in all, not a bad looking banner if I do say so myself.

Just in time for St. Patrick's Day and I am working on some more décor too.
Will share that with you soon.

Also, if you want this banner or one like it - you can pick it up in my etsy shop...

Pinterest Inspired - day 44

I know I am not the only one out there that is absolutely in love with PINTEREST-I mean how amazing is it that there is a place where tons of people, from all over the world, with various different "LIKES" posted for the whole world to see. Ideas - Ideas and more Ideas - I mean can the well of possibility of things to make ever run dry??? NEVER.

O.k. I found something on Pinterest that I knew I wanted to try...of course making it my own

I took some 2 x 4's (I think that's what they are called) cut them to the size I wanted then used 2 smaller & skinnier pieces of wood for the back and hammered up thru the back side to secure the front pieces to the back support pieces...

Painted the whole board a gray color then painted the word LUCKY US and added a vintage HORSE SHOE and tacked it in with some funky horse nails - I probably should have rusted them up a bit to match but I like the old & new look to it...

So probably should explain something....I have help with my construction projects.

this guy right here. My sweet husband!
So this is how we work:
I see something I like or want to try - or design something in my head and draw it out -
I tell him how big I want it (with my hands) and he tells me what type of materials I probably should use and then he cuts and sands and gives me my finished piece and I do the detail work...
It's a wonderful union of design (me) & function (him) Besides I am terrified of power tools...I can use a hand sander and that's about it...

O.k. so I want to make more of these signs maybe using a different accent piece.

Come check out my Pinterest boards

Have a crafty good day.

Crocheting Hearts - day 40

Boy - talk about attention issues...I tell you when it comes to crafting I am all over the place. Yesterday I was sewing and today I am crocheting....I have secretly always loved crocheting but can really only do basic stitches and cant read patterns so I never really try to advance my skills in crochet, but recently I saw some super cute crochet hearts on some blogs and well I tried my hands at several different patterns and couldn't get it to work out -

see what I mean...icky

one of the better ones but no two are ever the same or perfect or close to decent. Its a hit or miss.

So what's a girl to do? She looks on YOUTUBE of course!!!

I found the easiest and truthfully quite addicting way of crocheting the cutest and sweetest little hearts...Like they are super quick and super gratifying and ADDICTING - didn't I already say that {heehee}

But look at the difference...

Aren't they the cutest things ever and look I have made them in every color.
Red, white, bright pink and turquoise.

Don't the red & turquoise hearts look amazing together.

And don't they look great as a garland...I made a bunch - see told yeah-can't stop making them...I'm linking this up to the challenges above.

Here's wishing you a wonderful Thursday. Happy Valentine's Day

sewing again - day 39

Oh my Goodness - I cant explain these crazy spurts I get but I occasionally get a hankering for sewing up something - anything...and something easy, take for instance garlands...Talk about quick..

Take some felt or fabric cut out your shape and sew through all the piece to create a quick and easy garland.

triangles turned simple garland and if you take "SAID" shapes and sew down the middle - you get a totally different type of banner...check it out

then you could add the super easy, quickly sewn and super cute banners to a vignette like this

Neat right???

I just love these easy projects.

day 38 - Felt Heart

I was very into making my Valentine Mantel this year - mainly I didn't want to buy too many silly little bits at the craft store - I wanted to try and use what I had. (My goal for the year is to use what I have and spend less.) So I brought out my felt and just kept it simple.

I cut out a heart shape from the felt then took 1 of the hearts under the sewing machine and just free hand sewed the words "I LOVE YOU" I like the look of the sewing script.

After wards I turned the hearts inside out and closed up the heart leaving the opening up at the top. Stuft the heart with poly-fil and then whip stitch the opening closed.

Added a ribbon hanger and some pretty seam binding and a leaf & berries to the top///

Cute right and the best part is that I can keep it up all year long!

I am linking this up to the parties above.

Here's to LOVE and hope your heart is full!!!

day 36 - Button LOVE

I am sure we all have a fondness for buttons. In my opinion, the vintage ones are best. I have so many and most are just in jars, not being used but I have this weird habit where I want to make something with them but HATE to use them so most of the time I walk on by and just watch them look pretty in their jar.

This time I decided to use them by making something I had already made before in a different color scheme .

I used a vintage embroidery hoop attached some pink burlap then added some white vintage buttons in the shape of a heart.

Sweet right? These are fun to hang in a group setting in your studio or in a vignette for Valentines Day.

I made one in regular burlap and red buttons too - cute and all in a group - I think would make a beautiful addition to my Valentine Décor.

Hope your staying crafty!

February Goals-day 35

Just wanted to share my goals for this month.

When I say finish January Project Life - I basically want to stay on target. You know not be working on February in October...

Ideally I'd like to lose more than 5 pounds but I figure if I start small & lose more then I'll be stoked but if I start low and only lose 3 or 4 pounds then I wont have missed my target by too much.

Hair Appt - scheduled for Feb 28th -

I have always wanted to learn to really sew and a quilt seems basic until the binding - so I think I want to start one but keeping it open to perhaps taking a sewing class and learn to sew my own clothes...either or

I am planning on finding the absolute most awesome vacation yet. I wanna do Hawaii but not sure or maybe another beachy destination. I'll let you know how that goes.

Keeping up with my business is my number 1 priority so I am hoping to list more than once a week but AT LEAST once a week.

O.k. simple goals and totally do-able.

Hope you have a great month.

back to it - day 33

Sticking to my "crafting" roots - I wanted to start this year scrapbooking again. At least attempt to stay on track with it - so I made a Valentine's Day page - Used some fun embellishments and some vintage pieces too.

just added some fun little tim holtz chit chat stickers to a film roll accent

a paper punched butterfly

some gold cricut letters

and only added one photo mat - for one very important picture.

I'm liking it - how about you? If you want it it's in my ETSY store - link is on the left side.

Hope you had a crafty weekend.

Just being silly - day 32

So I was having fun making things with burlap that I thought I would try something different and a bit silly - just used BURLAP, paint and stamps...and this is what I did.

I know not the nicest thing but fun right? Or do I just have a wicked sense of humor?
Probably both.

I'm planning on making another one for my husband. I'll show that to you when its done - its a spin off from this pillow.

But if you are a jokster then you'll totally get this.
I have it listed in my etsy shop if your interested.

Well hope you are having a fabulous weekend.

day 31 - January is over

Wow the first month of 2014 is over. It was a good month...let me show you.

Grab some coffee this is gonna be a long post...

At the beginning of the month I had decided instead of a list of year long resolutions I would instead make monthly goals, you know something I could check off and hopefully at the end of the month I would feel accomplished.

Well it worked
I can proudly say that I was able to cross everything off my list...

I made more then 5 scrapbooks

I made another 4 as well. Listed them all and sold one too.

*I signed up for weight watchers on January 15th - its going o.k. nothing to brag about {dang it}

*I decided to NOT sign up for 24 hour fitness because it was gonna be like 140.00 down payment and 45.00 a month and this year I am totally about saving money - So instead I signed up for the DAILY BURN - online workouts for 10.00 a month and I can watch it on my ROKU - on the big screen!!! I like it - I can do it in the privacy of my living room and not feel embarrassed - yeah!!

* I have been walking 3-5 times a week. with my friend and other times with my kids and husband.

*Baked bread just this week....oh it was delish and it is something I definitely want to do again.

As the photo of my white board shows - I have been listing on ebay and stocking my shop regularly-and I got something already to send out for publication in a magazine - I would show it off but I can't until and IF it gets picked to be in the magazine. Or I find out otherwise - so please keep those fingers crossed.

So now to make up some new goals for February. I hope it goes as well as this month.

Feeling totally accomplished!

Here's hoping your first month of 2014 was AMAZING!!!

Baked-day 29

On my January goal list - I had put down bake bread. I had always wanted to try it. You know the kind that requires you to use yeast? I have made bread using a box mix before and a bread machine but decided this year was thee year. So I looked online and found a basic bread recipe - seemed simple. So I followed it step for step (except maybe for the times for rising etc.)

Surprisingly it worked. At least, it looked like it did.

Pretty right?

Golden deliciousness

It was easy to cut through and was soft and yummy inside.

It almost looked like a bakery style bread loaf - worth I'd say 5.00...

I added some jam & butter and wowzers, I was impressed.

yummy.

I think it will be something I will be making regularly now.

I am proud that I baked something, proud that it came out right, proud that it tasted good and that my kids loved it, proud that I crossed off the last thing on my January goals list.

I am linking this up to the parties above.
